CHAPTER 13
Verse 1. This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.
For I delivered
unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ
died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he
was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to
the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once;
of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are
fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the
apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born
out of due time, 1Co1503-08.
2. I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:
3. Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me,
Jesus...said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him, Jhn0716-18.
As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God, 1Pe0410,11.
Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou befound a liar, Pro3005,06.
which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure, Phl0213.
4. For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
Jesus said, For without me ye can do nothing, Jhn1505.
5. Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you,
Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus, Col0126-28.
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples, Jhn1507,08.
except ye be reprobates?
This I say therefore,
and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other
Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the
understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through
the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their
heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto
lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye
have not so learned Christ, Eph0417-20.
6. But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.
7. Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved,
Outwardly appear righteous unto men, Mat2328.
but that ye should do that which is honest,
If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him, 1Jn0229.
Let no man deceive
you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
He that committeth sin is of the
devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose
the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works
of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for
his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born
of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children
of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,
neither he that loveth not his brother. For this is the message
that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,
1Jn0307-11.
8. For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
9. For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.
If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law, Heb0711,12.
Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe, Gal0321,22.
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God, Rom0320-25.
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified, Gal0216.
Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man (Jesus Christ) is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses, Act1338,39.
But this man (Jesus Christ), after
he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the
right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies
be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected
for ever them that are sanctified, Heb1012-14.
10. Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.
11. Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect,
As pertaining to the conscience, Heb0909.
But this I confess
unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship
I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written
in the law and in the prophets: And have hope toward God, which
they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection
of the dead, both of the just and unjust. And herein do I exercise
myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God,
and toward men, Act2414-16.
be of good comfort,
For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope, Rom1504.
be of one mind,
Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment, 1Co0110.
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ, Eph0403-07.
live in peace;
Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men, Rom1216-18.
and the God of love
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us, 1Jn0408-12.
and peace shall be with you.
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints, 1Co1433.
12. Greet one another with an holy kiss.
13. All the saints salute you.
14. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost (fellowship: For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you, Mat1020), be with you all. Amen.
If we walk in
the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with
another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from
all sin, 1Jn0107.
